TEAM ME2ME

During this time of no travel and more free time than normal on my hands, I find myself part of a sailing team! I do need to point out one thing – I don’t know how to sail (which side is port…?)!

One gorgeous sunny day, I joined friends for a race around the magnificent Table Bay in Cape Town!

Now, in my mind… I was going on a booze cruise so came prepared with my cooler box full of beer and a few snacks… oops this wasn’t a booze cruise…

The guys had their waterproof gear, boots, knee pads and game faces on ready to man their stations, ready to race!

As for me, I had nothing but sunscreen and a hat!  So my tactic for the day was – keep out the way and not do anything silly like falling in!

Unfortunately or not, depends how you look at it that race turned into a wet squib, the wind died…

After spending an hour going backwards, on went the motor and out came the beers, yay booze cruise…

My tactics couldn’t have been to off, the next day I was asked what size I was for the team kit and to make the next few weekends available for training and more races.

This is where my deduction that I was on the team came in… Must have been the full cooler box!

Now better start researching how to sail!
