Togo
Togo – Country 26
What a cute, calm, HOT, country. Togo is a little sliver of a country sandwich between Benin and Ghana.
We stayed in Lome on the beach front for a few days. Lome has a huge wide beach, which DHL has been planting 1000’s of palm trees along the roadside (good job DHL!).
The beach is not used for sunbathing at all that I could see, but as a place to launch boats, have a lunch time snooze and a sports ground. The Togolese people of all shapes and sizes
The beach is not used for sunbathing at all that I could see, but as a place to launch boats, have a lunch time snooze and a sports ground. The Togolese people of all shapes, sizes and ages are using the beach early each morning for exercise.
This morning, I went off early for a drive, to explore the city a bit more. What I saw was 100’s & 100’s & 100’s of people running, playing soccer, touch rugby, doing sit ups etc etc the weekend seemed to bring the whole city outdoors (I felt a bit lazy driving around in my car so had to get out and walk for a bit!!).
We spent a very relaxed time here, walking the markets, visiting a slave house (not nice!!) and a school to hand out school supplies. Lome has a HUGE port that also services Niger. Beautiful large buildings are dotted around the city.
uch traffic. There are very few police around which is compared to other countries shows how nice a place it is, and the ones we saw didn’t stop us once… Nice place!
