Cameroon
Cameroon – Country 23
I think Cameroon is one of my favourite countries so far, it really is a beautiful place, with HUGE, HUGE trees (I do love trees), the vegetation in the jungle is supersized, which makes the trees look normal until you get up close to them!
The whole country has something to offer scenically (I am just not the photographer to showcase this…). We were in Douala for a few days and I fell in love with my bed, it was so comfortable, the last month I hadn’t slept in one comfortable one (my poor back!).

A great visit with one of the ministers to hand out school supplies to 6 orphanages (love this part of the job).
I am still trying to get over the traditional dancer that performed at our function, she opened a beer bottle in a very different way, oh my God, the whole team was gobsmacked (anyone been to Bangkok…?).
We took a drive out to a town called Kiribi, and were taken on a stunning boat trip along the river to visit a pygmy family living in the forest. The head of the family took us on a walk through the forest and showed us which trees could be used to cure just about any ailment (they had a whole pharmacy surrounding them, really cool).
Then a trip to the base of a stunning waterfall that flows straight into the sea, and topped off the day with a monster platter of prawns and a cold one!
We took another trip out to Limbe, a little town by the Ocean and overlooked by Mount Cameroon, so pretty.
The drive towards the Nigerian border (on beautiful tar) just got more spectacular and mountainous as we travelled north, lush valleys where the trees and vegetation just got taller and greener (I love this place!!). The only problem, well more of annoyance is the police stops every few KM, all asking and checking the same thing on one straight road (no idea what they thought we were going to change or lose along the way!).
