I was so excited to be in Prague, as soon as I landed I had the most stupid grin on my face – I did get a few funny looks from grumpier looking people… I arrived late around 11 pm and soon realize by pure fluke I have picked the most perfect positioned place to stay. So quickly dropped my bags and headed out to explore, aiming for the river. Oh heavens, this place is beautiful! The city streets speak to me, my hand caressing the walls while I walk through the streets and over the 14th century Charles Bridge that links the Old Town and the Lesser Town up to Prague Castle. Not many people are out walking, and I do not have to worry about working my way through the throngs of tourists (which is always a bonus). The medieval buildings are all lit up to show their grandeur, their beauty and their longevity in a world the is now being built on the fast and cheap. After wandering around for about an hour, I thought it might be best to head to my hotel for some sleep and an early morning. On the way back, I was strolling down a back street and passed a lively small bar, I nearly stopped for a drink but carried on (the sunrise was calling\u2026), but a few buildings up was another even cuter, smaller cozier bar. Ok, I had to have one drink or four\u2026 The bar turned out to be “Hemingway” THE cocktail bar in Prague. Three other single travelers were at the bar going through the cocktail menu, we all started chatting, and by the time we left, we were all meeting up again the next night and the next! The next few days, hours were spent walking and exploring every road and alleyway I could find bringing the city into my soul and igniting the imagination of centuries past. There is something about old cities I just love. Looking up can give you the best sights as the upper stories aren\u2019t spoilt by storefronts or restaurants. Even the areas the tourists were visiting in their masses could be peaceful if you just stood and took in the surrounds, they didn\u2019t last too long in one place before they were shuffled on by their tour guides. A walk down what was to become my favourite lane (Melantrichova), I came across the Sex Machine Museum \u2013 oh my! It was fun and a little disturbing, especially the early silent porn movies \u2013 ha ha, they were hilarious, they are still making me giggle every time I think about them (which I am trying not too..!!!) Shopping at the hassle free markets, I bought a painting of my lane. Even before I visited the sex machine museum I loved the crookedness of it. After visiting the museum it became my point of reference for every direction in Prague\u2026 Throughout the hours exploring I tasted the local foods as I strolled along (very happy, massive rolled donuts filled with ice cream was one of them\u2026) After a relaxing boat trip, a hot sunny sky threatened to turn and wet the city before the rain hit. One of the guys and I sat at the edge of the river for a traditional meal of pork, cabbage and dumplings and it goes without saying a few large beers, before heading back across the river in the light rain to the Old Town and more exploring. I never made a sunrise or watched a sunset but did get good food and company instead. To make up for missing the sun\u2019s dance through the sky. The warm golden light from the street lamps reflecting on the deserted roads and cobble stones each night more than made up for it.
